Eating Asian Cuisine

Eating foreign food is great, but sometimes the food at home is the best.

A Swiss restaurant in Singapore.

I've eaten many things in my life, even if I'm a picky eater at times. Authentic Italian Pizza? Check. Swiss Rösti? Check. Chinese food made in Paris? Yes! But there's something special about Asian Cuisine I can't place a finger on.

The Uniqueness of Asian Cuisine

Asian Cuisine has been criticized of being "bland" and simply "filler" for Asians usually in labor. I don't agree. Asian Cuisine is filled with interesting spices and flavors, and the way Asians cook too adds to how Asian Cuisine tastes.

It is said that the portions of ingredients in a recipe is of little consequence to how we cook. Obviously it does, but it seems Asian food tends to rely on the synthesis of flavors and actual cooking rather than portions. I noticed that when Gordon Ramsay travels in Asia and tries out Asian recipes, and the chefs always tell him that that doesn't matter as much as he thinks it does.

In generally that's why I like Asian Cuisine. There's something genuine about the way people cook here in Asia, and it requires more than good skill to be a good cook.
